Grown in 619 municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and Paraná, tobacco is planted on 315 thousand hectares, by 154 thousand integrated farmers. Good for the countryside, better for the town. In the 2014/2015 crop year, according to a survey conducted by PriceWaterhouseCoopers, production reached 692 thousand
metric tons – of this total, 51% was produced in Rio Grande do Sul, 29% in Santa Catarina and 20% in Paraná, generating some 40 thousand direct jobs in the companies of the sector based in Brazil.
